Year of the Boar

The Pig type is usually an honest, straightforward and patient person. They are a modest, shy character who prefers to work quietly behind the scenes. When others despair, they are often there to offer support. This type of person is reserved with those they do not know too well, but as time passes and they gain confidence, those around them may discover a lively and warm-hearted person behind that mask of aloofness. Despite those born in the year of pig having a wide circle of friends and acquaintances, they have few close friends who understand them and share their inner thoughts and feelings. It is easy to put trust in pig type; they won't let you down and will never even attempt to do so. Such people simply want to do everything right according to social norms.
It is important to remember that these people are not vengeful creatures. If someone tries to take advantage of them, the pig type tend to withdraw to reflect on the problem and protect themselves. All they need in such situations is a little time to find a constructive way to respond. The people of the pig type are conservative creatures of habit. They dislike being made to travel too far from familiar surroundings, unless it is a trip to the countryside. They love nature and are never happier than when they are out somewhere, far from the city.
There is a tolerant and peaceful side to their character. Such people are never afraid to allow others their freedom of expression; they do not want to cause arguments and if there is any way to avoid arguing, they will probably take this option. They are not weak, however, and if the situation forces them to fight these people will rise to the occasion, whether it is to defend themselves or those close to them.

Sunscreen in February
Gorgeous weather + drum corps = awesome camp weekend!
The vis staff worked on staging the opener, the colorguard got more exciting work, and music wise - dusk, jazz police, TOP parade tune, and STONE GROUND SEVEN ... all under the beautiful California sun.
Only a few pics... I was too busy enjoying myself to be bothered with the camera.

I have no idea how to upstage the llama.
It's finally becoming winter here in CA. That basically just means rain. Yes it gets cold but its never unbareable. There are always those one or two rehearsals when learning guard work in a downpour ends up building some crazy muscles and mostly just a lot of laughs as everyone realizes that we are insane for being outside in those conditions. Of course after DCA this past year. . . I guess we really are the "all weather drum corps."
Camp in a little over a week now. The guard is already having sectionals to retain the loads of work that we learned last camp from Mark. At the end of the last rehearsal Mark encouraged all of us to start getting active and moving in between camps so that our bodies don't hate us later. Hopefully we're all doing that . . .we're going to need it!!! :)
Chinese new year parade info is coming out and hopefully lots of people are going to be there from other corps. Last year was my first and it was alot of fun. There is something different about being on a dark street with a flood light in your eyes while tossing a flag. I think I'm mainly looking forward to the Chevy's after parade Margarita myself.
So thats February in the bay area. Now back to your regularaly scheduled Llama break.

Excerpt: The Triumph of Evil
A one-point penalty that resulted in a drop of two places at the DCA World Championships would decimate most drum corps. But for the Renegades, it was a blessing in disguise, and it became a defining moment of the corps. Instead of the members engaging in a witch-hunt to find the culprit ... a miracle.
One by one, members of the corps posted an admission of guilt on the Renegades' Internet forum. Within a day, pretty much every corps member had taken credit for the penalty, including a few alumni who had not even gone to DCA. A catch phrase started to appear in the Renegade’s signatures on the Internet, “It was me in 2003!”
The penalty did not divide the Renegades, it only made the corps stronger. The reaction to the penalty became one of the proudest moments of my entire drum corps career. The Renegades were more than a drum corps—they were a family.

Breaking News: Attention Group. The San Francisco Renegades are proud to announce the hiring of two new representatives for the next DCA Rules Congress. The rules proposals to be discussed by the Renegades new representatives shall be limited to the discussion of 1970s haircuts, the abolition of beadless maracas in DCA competition, and the use of the word "F***" on Drum corps Planet.
That is all.
