Looking Forward, Looking Back
By Chris Nalls, Director

Wow.

2003 was quite a year.

And 2004 is looking to be even more spectacular. We have a variety of exciting events to share with you.

The first event of the 2004 season will be the annual San Francisco Chinese New Years’ Parade. This is where we invite anyone and everyone to join the Renegades for a day and march the fun parade. Winding it's way through the streets of the city on Saturday night, February 7th, the parade is the largest celebration of its kind in the world, attracting over three million spectators and television viewers throughout the U.S., Canada, and Asia.

And you can perform with us!

Music will be available soon for horns and drums. Color guard will learn their stuff the day of the performance. We will rehearse at 10am on February 7th, probably at Treasure Island.

Here's what to do:

Step 1: Let us know you'll be marching by sending an email to info@renegades.org.

Step 2: Download the music (coming soon) so you can practice your parts. All music should be memorized before you arrive at "Site X."

Step 3: Uniform!! Horns and Drums - You must bring: All Black, long-sleeved dress shirt (with black buttons), black slacks (ie. Dockers - matching shirt color), all black dress shoes or sneakers and black socks!! Color guard - Uniform info coming soon.

Step 4 (optional): Get a hotel room near the party location after the parade (suggested hotel information will be on the website soon). You will need a place to crash and hotel rooms book up early!

Make your plans now - this is an event to treasure in your memory banks!

Also coming up in 2004 is Loud Music Symposium 5. Join us at the historic Herbst Theatre for this year's edition of the most outrageous concert series of all time. An exciting festival of decibels featuring California's most exciting musical ensembles including the San Francisco Renegades, River City Regiment and SoCal Dream! Join us at this spectacular theater in the heart of San Francisco for the official launch of the 2004 Drum Corps season in California!
