THE NIGHT BEFORE FINALS
an adaption by MAV

‘Twas the night before finals
And all through the Corps
The buzz was “we made it!”
And wanted some more!

The medals were hung
‘Round Mini-Corps necks
While cymbals enjoyed
Nods from Big Mex

With Marlan in drag
And Jim as a Chicken
Crunchy Frog got
An entertaining lickin’

But it wasn’t the loss
That made us a bit sore
We wanted to lose
With a negative score!

Twas a difficult sleep
With chops in our head
Drop spins and diddles
Rehearsed while in bed!

Still others found partying
Long into the night
Those TGIF fixtures
And as high as a kite

Blurry-eyed rising
Daylight came quickly
The last with a beer
Must be RudNICKi

More rapid than drill moves
To buses we came
As Todd’s kin all hooted
And called us by name:

On…LisaMoMeesa
Veronicas, Chuck
Johanna Girl Wonder
and Team on the Truck

Carol LoudLancer
Contra-God Al
SkaJerk Randy
And God-Damned Al

Lee’s Mistress Kelli
And Renecycle Toys
Misty and Benny
And those sexy guard boys!

Professor Chaos
T.I. Mayor Steve
Doctors Evil & Penny
And Tenor Rack Steve

JT & JR
Francesca, DeMello
Stimpy, Matt, Stu
And Mr. Clavejo

Julio, Ricks
Brians and Mikes
Steves, Minervini
Dan and the likes.

Mr. Todd Oliver
Assisting the squads
Jan, Ms. Kanika
And assortments of 'bods'

Scott, Zak, and Car-los
Snappett’s Mom Dennis
Mike, John, and Calvin
Fear the Bass menace!

Lesa, Kimela
First Richard (no tent)
Richard (drums/high notes)
Honor Guard - unbent!

Diane, Beth, Betsy
And rockin’ Guard Al
Munson, Michelle
And each French Horn pal

Trinity, Dave
Pearson in whites
Led the brigade
From stadium heights

And you’ll forgive Mav
If you have not named
On Contras! On Baris!
On Drumline (untamed)!

Flags, Rifles, Sabres!
Phat Sops in the sphere!
On Mellos, Anti-Pit!
And Josh…last, but still here!

And he yelled from the ‘phram
That RandomNoise Nalls
“Now dash away! Dash away!
Dash away alls! “

When entering Moosic
The Corps did prevail
To secure warm-up digs
And work on detail.

The time was at hand
Fourth in the yield
An “Ave” was sung
Then onto the field

They spoke only ‘SEVEN!’
And went straight to their goal
The air filled with ‘chaos
Searing the soul.

The show – how it “goose-bumped”
The crowd – how they cheered
Moments connected
For best of their year!

So Renegades came
They conquered and showed
How corps could be fun
Sans glittered or bowed

And even though ‘evil’
Reigned in the night
Many gave praise and exclaimed
“What a sight!”

Numbers didn’t matter
The Penalty? Relax..
Friendships were forged
And that’s all. Pax!
